SweetBlue 4.0.0 Release!

  • We have some huge news for everyone. SweetBlue is moving to open source under the Apache 2.0 license!
This means you are free to use it how you see fit under the Apache license, and can contribute to the code, if you so desire at the Github repo.

So what are the changes for v4?

    • Well, other than moving to open source, we removed the need for an API key. Other than that, everything is the same, so it should be a super smooth transition (just update your build.gradle file to 4.0.0, and you should be good to go!).

    • The method BleManager.createInstance() has been removed. It was mainly used to pass in the API key manually. As this is no longer needed, this method became unnecessary. Use BleManager.get() instead.

    • The sample apps (very simple, stripped down apps) are now included in the SweetBlue repo

    • The SweetBlue Toolbox app is now also in the SweetBlue repo. This is a more fully-featured app to display SweetBlue in action.

What does it mean for this forum?

This forum will remain running for some time (still TBD), but we ask everyone to switch to using Github's Discussions instead.
